discography

DISCOGRAPHY: THE CORE CURRICULUM

Not exhaustive by any means, this discography covers the major releases (including non-album singles and EP’s) by the artists who receive substantive discussion in the book. The releases included here are restricted to those within the book’s timeframe (ie. up to 1984, with a few straying into 1985), although later compilations, anthologies and box-sets are included, along with later releases of material recorded within the postpunk timeframe. With certain overdocumented bands (Throbbing Gristle, for instance), I’ve chosen to be sparing. B-sides are mentioned when classic or noteworthy. In terms of the records’ current availability, because the state of reissuing is in constant flux, with catalogues often moving from label to label, and some recent CD reissues going out print rapidly, I’ve noted only the original label and release date, except when a reissue incorporates desirable bonus material e.g. the Human League reissues that include otherwise hard-to-find EP’s. Releases of particular excellence or historical importance, and compilations of especial usefulness, are indicated with this symbol: *
